JULIET BATTEN
“My happiest moments were spent sitting on a rock by the river and gazing into the mystery of its swirling waters.”
Juliet Batten was born in Taranaki and attended high school and university in Auckland, graduating with a PhD in English in 1968. In the 70s she published poems in Landfall, and in the 1980s went on to establish herself as a visual artist.
“As a young child growing up in Taranaki, New Zealand, my happiest moments were spent sitting on a rock by the river and gazing into the mystery of its swirling waters. That strong sense of connection with nature has always been present, deepened by the influence of a special Maori teacher during my formative years.”
Juliet Batten wrote many books from poets to wisdom in age and more.
